Carter's Fried Chicken is a long-running local favorite at 1213 S 7th St, Cordele, GA 31015. The restaurant is known for fried chicken, burgers, quick service, breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a strong small-town following. It has the kind of Southern comfort-food appeal that feels familiar before the first bite lands.
From my visit and public source check, Carter's Fried Chicken feels casual, busy, and local. The setup is simple, with a walk-up and drive-through style that keeps the pace moving. It is not a polished chain restaurant. It is a Cordele food stop built around hot fried chicken, filling sandwiches, biscuits, sides, and friendly staff.
The fried chicken is the main draw. Guests often mention crisp batter, hot pieces, strong seasoning, and food served fresh. The chicken has that classic Southern fast-food feel: crunchy outside, juicy inside, salty enough to be satisfying, and best eaten right away. A chicken box with rolls, fries, or a side makes a good first order.
Burgers also have a loyal fan base. Public reviews mention Carter burgers, cheeseburgers, and big sandwiches that feel hearty and old-school. The burger style is simple: meat, bun, cheese, toppings, and a lot of comfort. It works well for guests who want something filling but are not in the mood for chicken.
Carter's Fried Chicken also has more variety than the name suggests. Menu notes list fish filet, gizzards, liver, popcorn chicken, chicken salad, catfish, biscuits, donuts, and dinner plates. The official site adds details about a chicken breader made with a unique spice blend, coleslaw ground daily by hand, and smoked BBQ. Those details give the restaurant more character than a basic fried chicken counter.
Breakfast can be a good move too. Biscuits, chicken biscuits, and sweet items such as donuts give the place an early-day rhythm. A biscuit with chicken is simple, warm, and easy to eat on the road. For travelers passing through Cordele, that makes Carter's Fried Chicken a useful stop before getting back on the highway.
The vibe is casual, affordable, and down-home. Guests come for takeout, family meals, road-trip food, and quick comfort plates. Staff notes are often positive, and the restaurant carries a local reputation that has lasted for years.
Carter's Fried Chicken is a strong Cordele pick for fried chicken, burgers, gizzards, biscuits, fish, donuts, and classic Southern fast food. A good first order is fried chicken with rolls, a Carter burger, gizzards, coleslaw, and a donut for later.

Helpful and fast service. They got my order out super fast. They will provide a menu if you ask. I ordered a side of onion rings and a side of corn nuggets. The batter on the onion rings wasn't really flavored, so the ketchup they provided was the main flavor aside from the onion itself. The texture was very good though; the batter was light and crispy, and the onions were soft and not stringy. The corn nuggets were amazing though. The exterior was crispy, and the interior was creamy plus the texture of the whole corn kernels. The flavor was sweet and savory. I wish I could have tried some of their bakery goods, but they told me they were too short-staffed to make enough recently. There is some seating, but it's outside. There's no interior seating.

Carter's has been in business for a very long time now in the Cordele, Georgia area. They have the best donuts, BBQ, chicken gizzards, livers and the sweet tea is really good. Keep in the mind during the evening time rush on the weekends they do get busy at the drive thru and at the ordering counter/window. I like the BBQ sammich its really good and same with the sweet tea. The customer service is top knotch and none of our past orders has been a issue or a problem. Service here is great and friendly.

The food here has always been delicious. During this visit, I experienced a major setback. I ordered the deboned chicken breast sandwich, but it has pieces of bone still inside. The bread was hard and the sandwich was cold. Yuck! Everyone else truly enjoyed their meals. My gizzard box was good, but just a little greasy. You now have to park in the back to wait for your order. The young ladies were very nice though. Maybe it was just an off day. Group size

I went for the doughnut holes, but they are ALWAYS out. So I tried their chicken wings, cheese fries and some cinnamon twists. The wings were not fresh(dried out) it was like they had been there since the day before!! The fries just had shredded cheese on them and they put them in the microwave! The twists on the other hand were delicious 😋 I forgot to take a picture of the 🍗and 🍟 before I threw them out the window 😂.
